Customer story · Banqy

How Banqy keeps a mortgage conversation going across days and channels

An agent that carries a half-finished mortgage application from WhatsApp to web chat without asking the applicant to start again.

Nobody applies for a mortgage in one sitting. They ask what they might qualify for, disappear to find a payslip, come back two days later on a different device, and expect the conversation to pick up where it stopped. Banqy is the UAE platform that has to make that feel like one conversation.

A single application, scattered across six channels

Enquiries arrived through WhatsApp, web chat, email, SMS, phone and social, and each channel behaved like its own island. The same applicant could exist six times over, with the half-finished story spread across all of them.

Mortgage questions also cannot be answered generically. Whether someone qualifies depends on their income, their status and the property, and an encouraging non-answer wastes everyone’s time — theirs and the advisor’s.

And the expensive work sits at the end of the funnel. Creating an account and collecting documents for someone who was never eligible costs Banqy real time, which is why qualifying early matters more than replying fast.

What Open does

Every channel normalises into one conversation with one memory, so the applicant who started on WhatsApp and returned on web chat is the same person to the agent, mid-application rather than at the beginning.

Banqy’s eligibility assessment is trained into the agent with checkpoint persistence, which is the part that matters for a process measured in days: progress is kept between conversations instead of reset each time someone closes the app.

The agent answers in Arabic and English, in whichever one the applicant opened with, and it is pointed at establishing eligibility and genuine interest before anyone is asked to create an account or upload a document.

When a colleague steps into a conversation the agent pauses, and when they step back out it resumes — so a human taking over does not mean two voices answering the same person, and handing back does not mean starting a new thread.

The Impact

An applicant is qualified before the paperwork starts, and the advisors spend their time on the applications that can actually complete.

Banqy is not publishing resolution or automation figures yet. The early operational numbers are still being cleaned up — inbox triage and spam handling are changing what the denominator even means — and this story will carry the figures once they are stable and Banqy is ready to share them.
