01 — Overview

Can I add an AI phone agent to my GoTo Connect dial plan?

Yes. GoTo Connect's dial-plan editor stays the source of truth for routing. Open is a SIP destination one or more of your nodes route to when you want AI on a specific call class.

GoTo Connect remains your phone system. Extensions, ring groups, voicemail, and the visual dial-plan editor all stay where they are. Open joins as a SIP destination — practically that means a node in your dial plan that forwards specific calls to Open over SIP. Everything else stays untouched.

For inbound, the cleanest pattern is to add an external SIP transfer node on the dial plan branch you want AI to handle. The inbound INVITE lands on Open, the AI picks up, and the rest of the conversation runs over standard SIP/RTP.

For outbound, Open opens a SIP session against your GoTo Connect SIP termination URI using digest credentials. Calls land in your GoTo CDRs the same way as today, presenting whatever caller IDs you've approved.

What the AI does on the call: it listens, reasons over your knowledge base and connected tools, and acts — looking up records, creating tickets, scheduling callbacks, or warm-transferring to a human GoTo Connect agent via SIP REFER with the live transcript attached.

Billing stays predictable. GoTo Connect keeps invoicing your seats and minutes. Open charges per resolved conversation — no markup, no extra GoTo seats needed for an AI front-line.

What stays the same on GoTo Connect

  • GoTo Connect dial plan

Your visual dial plan keeps owning routing logic.

  • Numbers and extensions

Numbers, extensions, and voicemail don't move.

  • GoTo admin portal

You manage everything the same way.

  • CDRs and analytics

    Reporting in GoTo continues unchanged.

What's new with Open

  • A SIP transfer node

You add Open as an external SIP destination on the dial-plan branch you want AI on.

  • AI handles the conversation

The AI greets, listens, calls your tools, and replies in natural speech.

  • Transfers carry context

Escalations to a GoTo extension or queue receive the live transcript.

  • Pricing model

You pay Open per resolved conversation — no extra GoTo seats needed.

02 — Why this works

The native GoTo Connect experience

  • Visual dial plan stays in charge

Your GoTo Connect dial plan still drives routing — Open is just one node in it.

  • No new seats just for AI

AI on a queue isn't a user; you don't expand your GoTo seat count.

  • Per-branch opt-in

Pick exactly which dial-plan branches get AI.

  • Warm transfer back to your GoTo agents

When the AI escalates, your existing GoTo Connect agents receive the call with the live transcript.
