01 — Overview

How does a Canadian-ready AI voice agent work?

It plugs into your Canadian SIP infrastructure (Bell Total Connect, Telus Business Connect, Rogers Unison, RingCentral CA, Aircall CA), auto-detects English vs French Canadian on the first sentence, and runs the rest of the conversation in that language. 1-800/888/877/866/855/844/833 toll-free and local Canadian numbers all supported.

Canadian businesses lose customers in two specific ways most US-built voice AI doesn't address. First, Quebec callers who get answered in metropolitan French (or worse, English when they expected French) hang up. Second, multi-language staffing across timezones from Halifax to Vancouver is expensive and patchy. Open closes both.

Language detection runs on the first sentence. If the caller opens in French, the rest of the conversation is in French Canadian — québécois pronunciation, québécois vocabulary (un courriel, présentement), the conventions Quebec callers expect. If the caller opens in English, Canadian English conventions apply. Bilingual numbers can also be configured (separate inbound number per language) where the routing is explicit.

On the SIP side, we're a destination on Bell Total Connect, Telus Business Connect, Rogers Unison, RingCentral CA, Aircall CA, 8x8 CA, Zoom Phone CA, and Mitel/MiVoice deployments. Inbound calls hit Open via SIP INVITE; outbound originates through your trunk so your existing minute pricing stays.

PIPEDA and Quebec Law 25 alignment is built in. Canadian AWS residency (ca-central-1, Calgary) is available for clients with data-residency obligations under either statute. Recording and consent prompts are configurable in both languages. PII redaction covers SIN, health-card numbers, and provincial driver-licence formats. Law 25 specific: explicit French consent prompt at recording start, named privacy officer, 72-hour breach process, right-to-portability and right-to-deletion exposed in the dashboard.

Production deployments at Canadian customers go live in days. Coast-to-coast timezone routing (PT, MT, CT, ET, AT, NT) is configured once and applies across the account.

04 — FAQ

AI Voice Agent (Canada) questions, answered

Yes. The voice and vocabulary are québécois — "courriel", "présentement", Quebec vowel pronunciation. We've validated this on real Quebec call traffic with Quebec-based businesses.

Yes — all three are first-class. We also support RingCentral CA, Aircall CA, 8x8 CA, Zoom Phone Canada, and Mitel/MiVoice on-prem deployments.

Canadian AWS regions (ca-central-1, Calgary) are available for clients with PIPEDA or Law 25 data-residency obligations. US residency is the default for clients without those obligations.

Law 25 alignment includes: explicit French consent prompts at recording start, a named privacy officer in the DPA, 72-hour breach notification, and right-to-portability and right-to-deletion exposed in the dashboard. Clients with Quebec-resident customers should enable Canadian residency.
